The Farm

Nestled in the foothills of Carpinteria, 15 minutes south of Santa Barbara, Canzelle Alpacas offers 20 acres of cool oak woodlands and rolling green meadows along with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Barbara Channel Islands. In addition to the Lonson family, our little piece of paradise is home to over fifty alpacas, two llamas, two horses, two sheep, two dogs, six chickens, two birds, one cat and Archie the Water Buffalo!

The Herd

Canzelle chooses proven bloodlines and award-winning studs for blue ribbon crias (babies). After extensive research, we carefully select each alpaca for excellent conformation and very fine colored fleece. Our select herd provides a variety of colors, animals for sale, including pregnant females, weanlings, yearlings as well as pet quality males. Temperament is of utmost importance to us — we walk and talk and play with our alpacas! Canzelle Alpacas is small enough so that each animal is hand-fed and personally cared for.

Why Alpacas?

Alpacas are quiet, exotic, beautiful creatures that are easy to manage and are the perfect livestock for small acreage or a large ranch. Their exquisite fiber can be spun into yarn and knitted, woven, croqueted or felted to make all sorts of beautiful products. This is a great project for families to do together - even preschoolers can make felted purses, soaps and other fun gifts. There is a good market for alpaca fiber in the home spinner community and for alpaca yarn in retail stores. There is also a robust alpaca show circuit if you love competition.
